Today’s candy: the Moro bar. It’s kind of like a super-powered Twix, only with Cadbury chocolate and a better cookie (excuse me, biscuit). Wikipedia says it’s available in Ireland, or possibly Australia, depending on the one I got.
The Moro bar is good. Like, really, really good. The cookie is substantial and crunchy, the caramel is delightfully thick, and the chocolate is divine. I could eat these all day.
This great new candy shop, Rocket Fizz, just opened up in Portland. To celebrate, I’m trying out a bunch of candy I’ve never heard of. That’s right: I’m taking one for the team & eating a bunch of sugar. Don’t say I never got you anything.
First up: Cup o’ Gold.
Apparently the Cup o’ Gold was popular on the west coast in the 1950s.
Looks like a marshmallow Reese’s. Tastes like…a Mr. Goodbar with marshmallow goo. Or are those bits of coconut? I can’t tell, like, at all. The chocolate isn’t bad, though.
The Old Time Candy website says that the nuts are almonds, but – called it! – there is also “a hint of coconut.”
Not bad, but I probably wouldn’t get it again.
